Just a proper, reasonably well-loved, early 70’s Honda scrambler.

We replaced the dead rear shocks with brand new Ikons, and now you can fly this old thing at least six inches into the air by launching it off all the dumb “speed cushions” in Nashville. Or you can just go around the speed cushions, but we figure they’re a good test for a bike with off-road pretensions.

It’s a bit loud thanks to the completely typical muffler rot. But it’s not piss-off-the-neighbors loud, we promise.

Back when it had 13,911 miles in 2021, we cleared the bike of some flood damage, which meant replacing the air filters, installing a modern regulator-rectifiers (from Rick’s Motorsports Electrics), replacing the drive chain, the engine oil, and the spark plugs.

Since coming into our possession at 14,103 miles, we’ve installed a new MotoBatt AGM battery, cleaned the carbs, replaced the rear shocks (Ikon Suspension, as mentioned above), and given it a fresh tank of non-ethanol gas and a shakedown ride, as you do. (We’re at 14,120 miles as of 11/23/25.)

Like any old Honda twin, this bike might actually surprise you with its performance. Plus people at the coffee shop will ask “is that your Honda outside?” and tell you about how their father used to ride one. And that will most likely be coming from someone older than you are. But it’s cool, and you should ride old bikes. By buying this one and commuting to work on it or just riding it on weekends. (But ride it at least 10 miles, once a month, and you’ll be keeping it in good condition.)

$3,100 as-is, stock #9088.
